MAD PROJECT: SUBTEXT
CONCEPTUAL DEVELOPMENT / TYPOGRAPHY / PRINT
Subtext is a storytelling publication that explores the hidden meaning behind people, places, and objects through interviews, essays, and photography.
To organize the structure, I started with a flat plan to map out content flow and page layout. This helped guide the rhythm of the publication and kept the sections cohesive.

The final layouts include a full index, section dividers for topics like people, places, and objects, and full spreads that bring together writing and visuals in a way that feels personal and intentional.
The design blends archival and modern editorial influences, using handwritten annotations and cinematic photography to create a journal-like, reflective tone.

One feature includes an interview with my 11-year-old sister. Her simple but honest responses brought an innocent and developing perspective to the piece, paired with photos I’ve taken of her and notes she’s written over the years.
