WALRUS MAGAZINE COVER
TYPOGRAPHY / ILLUSTRATION
This conceptual cover for The Walrus magazine was inspired by an article that highlights Breast Cancer Canada’s push to lower the recommended age for mammograms to 40. It emphasizes the need for self-referral programs to improve access and ensure early detection for all women.
The design process began with a series of thumbnail sketches exploring various visual approaches to the article’s key themes.

Guided by a curated mood board, I began incorporating colour schemes of various skin tones, with tones of pink that subtly reference breast cancer awareness, while integrating more unexpected colours to avoid visual clichés.
The final composition uses a balanced and inclusive colour palette that makes the topic immediately recognizable while ensuring the overall illustration feels thoughtful, approachable, and universally relatable.
